What MyBisayaTutor is

MyBisayaTutor is an iPhone app for learning Cebuano, the language most Filipinos call Bisaya. It is built around comprehensible input: 15,000 listening clips and a library of stories graded from A0 to C2, so you spend most of your time on Cebuano you can almost follow, moving up a level when it stops being hard.

Around that core sit 20 grammar lessons covering the whole system, verb focus included, a 1,000-word vocabulary trainer on spaced repetition, curated Cebuano YouTube, the Kabaws short-clip feed and a Bisaya ↔ English translator. Progress is graded against a CEFR-style ladder.

The free tier does not expire. Pro is $4.99 a month, $24.99 a year or $59.99 once for life. There are no accounts, and progress stays on your phone. It is made by Daniel Pasion at Namore Studios, and there is no Android version yet.

Questions people ask

Is MyBisayaTutor free?

+

Yes. The vocabulary trainer, translator, grammar lesson 1, 200 listening clips per level, 3 Kabaws and one story a day are free forever — no trial timer, no account. Pro removes the caps and adds streaks, custom plans and the progress dashboard, at $4.99 a month, $24.99 a year, or $59.99 once for life.

How long does it take to learn Bisaya?

+

Roughly 100 hours to a basic exchange (A1), 200 to short everyday conversations (A2), 500 to handle daily life without English (B1). At 30 minutes a day that's about 7, 13 and 33 months.

Is Bisaya the same as Tagalog?

+

No. They're separate languages in the same family — about as close as Spanish and Italian. Tagalog vocabulary won't carry you, though the grammar concepts transfer.

Are the voices real native speakers?

+

No. The listening clips, the dictionary audio and the Kabaws are all spoken by a neural text-to-speech voice tuned for Cebuano, and reviewed by the developer. For real native speakers at real speed, the Native Media tab links out to Cebuano creators on YouTube.

Is there an Android app?

+

Not yet. iOS is available today; Android is on the roadmap.
